JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Façade Consultant will execute and grow AESG’s newly established Façade Remedial and Asset Maintenance stream across Victoria and the broader Australian market. This role combines high-level diagnostic engineering rigor with tactical client execution. The individual will lead forensic façade investigations, draft legal compliance pathways for distressed building envelopes, and oversee diagnostic drone and thermal data capture. Acting as a senior technical authority, this role ensures existing commercial, educational, and high-density assets are structurally sound, code-compliant, and optimized to meet modern ESG performance benchmarks.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering. Relevant certifications in forensic investigation or non-destructive testing are highly regarded.
Experience: More than 8–12 years of proven engineering experience specializing in façade remediation, condition auditing, combustible cladding replacement, and diagnostic testing within the Australian built environment.
Network: An active, referenceable network of building asset managers, specialized remedial project managers, quantity surveyors, structural insurers, and premium strata committees across Victoria.
GENERAL EXPECTANCY
Authority on the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards (AS1288, AS4284), and local Victorian compliance pathways for existing buildings.
Advanced proficiency in diagnostic methodologies, structural silicone glazing monitoring, water-ingress mapping, and hygrothermal processing profiles.
Autonomy to guide site operations under minimal supervision, translating site anomalies into highly detailed, certified engineering reports.
Based permanently in Melbourne, with the flexibility to coordinate national asset portfolios alongside interstate specialist divisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Forensic Engineering Execution: Lead complex site diagnostic investigations, including water penetration testing, drone-assisted thermal scanning, and deep-dive forensic material logging.
Technical Specification & Design: Draft robust engineering remediation documentation, localized junction details, independent material procurement parameters, and complete legal compliance specs for cladding replacement schemes.
Integrated ESD Cross-Selling: Work seamlessly alongside technical directors to cross-sell holistic remediation packages that embed acoustics, façade access, and early-stage sustainability metrics.
Market Insight & Testing: Conduct localized market checking and data analysis to continually validate fee pricing models against competitor positions.
Construction Supervision: Oversee physical mock-ups, conduct performance verification testing, and coordinate construction-stage sign-offs to deliver engineering certifications.
