# An exciting opportunity to lead a highly regarded community kindergarten Wilson Street Kindergarten (WSK) is seeking an experienced, passionate and highly capable Director / Nominated Supervisor & Early Childhood Teacher to lead our kindergarten from 2027. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional who enjoys both leadership and teaching. The position combines responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the kindergarten with two days per week teaching within one of our kindergarten programs. Wilson Street Kindergarten is a well-established, community-based sessional kindergarten located in Brighton. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality early childhood education within a warm, inclusive and nurturing environment. Our kindergarten is supported by an experienced and dedicated team, an engaged Committee of Management, and a wonderful community of children and families. Two administration staff provide valuable support to the Director across HR, enrolments, fees and operational management, contributing to the effective day-to-day management and operation of the kindergarten. We are looking for a leader who will build on these strong foundations while bringing their own experience, ideas and enthusiasm into the role. # About the Role This is a part-time position of 33.5 hours per week, incorporating: · Two teaching days per week, 8:00am–4:30pm · Dedicated non-contact time for Director/Nominated Supervisor responsibilities, administration, leadership and planning · Day-to-day leadership and management of the kindergarten · Leadership, mentoring and support of our Early Childhood Teachers and Educators · Collaboration with the Committee of Management/Approved Provider · Oversight of regulatory, legislative, funding and child safe requirements · Supporting the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the service. # Key Responsibilities ## Director / Nominated Supervisor · Provide strong, approachable and supportive leadership to the kindergarten team · Oversee the effective day-to-day operation of the service · Lead, mentor and support Early Childhood Teachers and Educators in their professional practice · Foster a positive, cohesive and collaborative workplace culture · Work closely and collaboratively with the Committee of Management/Approved Provider · Ensure the service operates in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures · Maintain a strong understanding of the National Quality Standards and Victorian Child Safe Standards · Support the ongoing development and implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan · Oversee and contribute to service policies, procedures and administrative requirements · Support staff professional development, performance and continuous improvement · Maintain strong and respectful relationships with children, families, staff and the wider community · Liaise with relevant government departments, regulatory bodies and community organisations as required. ## Early Childhood Teacher · Plan, implement and evaluate a high-quality, play-based kindergarten program · Apply the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) in teaching practice · Create an engaging, inclusive and responsive learning environment that recognises each child's individual strengths, interests, abilities and background · Develop secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships with children and families · Work collaboratively with educators to support children's learning, development and wellbeing · Contribute to reflective practice and continuous improvement across the kindergarten. # About You We are looking for an experienced early childhood professional who is also a confident, collaborative and supportive leader. You will be someone who values relationships and understands that strong leadership involves supporting and empowering the people around you. The successful applicant will demonstrate: · An ACECQA-recognised Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent · Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration · Current ACECQA-compliant First Aid qualifications, including CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis · Current child protection training · Strong knowledge and understanding of the VEYLDF and the EYLF · Comprehensive knowledge of relevant early childhood legislation, regulations and the National Quality Standards · Understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and a demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining a child-safe organisation · Demonstrated leadership and staff management capabilities · The ability to mentor, support and develop Early Childhood Teachers and Educators · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Strong organisational and administrative capabilities · The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, the Committee of Management and wider community · A collaborative, flexible and solutions-focused approach · A genuine commitment to high-quality early childhood education and continuous improvement.
