You’ll be the primary support worker for two school‑aged boys with behaviours of concern and behaviour support plans (PBS) in place.
- Location: Client home in/near Adelaide CBD; ideal worker lives in Gepps Cross / Northfield or nearby (approx. 30‑min drive).
Schedule (example pattern):
- Mornings: school support, approx 7–9am or 7–11am (Mon–Thu, some Saturdays)
- Afternoons: after‑school support, approx 1–7pm (key need on Thursdays)
- Total: roughly 15–25 hours per week, depending on final roster and your availability.
What you’ll be doing
- Implementing behaviour support plans / PBS strategies with guidance from the team
- Setting clear, consistent boundaries and calmly redirecting when tensions rise
- Supporting school routines, transitions and community access
- Engaging the boys in things they enjoy: exercise, skate park, basketball, swimming, table tennis, coding club, board games, crafts
- Working in the family home (no personal care), being respectful and comfortable in that environment
- Acting as Lead Support Worker: modelling best practice for other workers, communicating clearly with parents and the office, and helping keep support consistent
About you
- Male support worker (client preference but open to female with experience)
- Confident working with behaviours of concern and following behaviour support plans / PBS
- Calm under pressure, able to de‑escalate and redirect
- Clear, firm but fair with boundaries
- Enjoys being active and getting involved in sport / outdoor play
- Comfortable working in a family home environment
- Ready to step into a lead role (not just doing shifts, but helping set the tone for the team)
Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (essential)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Driver licence and reliable car (school runs are part of the role)
- Right to work in Australia
- Cert III in Individual Support / Disability / Community Services preferred but not essential with strong experience
Pay & progression
- Casual, above SCHADS Award Level 2.2 (final rate based on experience and behaviour‑support responsibilities)
- Stable, regular hours with the same family
- Opportunity to grow into a Lead Support Worker within our tiered pathway (Beginner → Core → Lead), with additional training and responsibilities over time
