This is a hands-on role that partners closely with operational leaders, frontline employees and customers to ensure our workplaces remain safe, compliant and continually improving.
About the Role
Reporting to the Safety and Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our Safety Management System across multiple operational sites.
You'll work closely with leaders and employees to provide practical WHS advice, conduct investigations, facilitate training and toolbox talks, monitor compliance and ensure legislative obligations are met across our transport and aviation operations.

Key Responsibilities
As our Safety and Compliance Officer, you will:

Promote and support a positive safety culture across all operational sites.
Investigate hazards, incidents and workplace injuries, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented. -
Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety audits.
Support the ongoing delivery and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System. -
Complete monthly and quarterly NHVAS compliance audits.
Partner with operational managers to provide practical WHS guidance and coaching. -
Deliver toolbox talks, workplace observations and safety training.

Assist with new employee inductions, compliance training and operational onboarding.

Coordinate injury management activities, including return-to-work planning and stakeholder liaison.

Monitor legislative compliance across Workplace Health & Safety, Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations.

Develop and maintain safety documentation, procedures and reports.

Build strong relationships with customers while supporting operational safety requirements.
About You
You are an experienced safety professional who enjoys being operationally involved and working alongside frontline teams. You have excellent communication skills, enjoy solving problems and are passionate about creating safer workplaces.

Qualifications

Diploma or Certificate in Workplace Health & Safety (or equivalent experience)
Current First Aid qualification -
Strong Microsoft Office suite skills – particularly Excel.

Return to Work and Injury Management training
-
Dangerous Goods Awareness (Road and Air)

Mental Health Training (desirable)
-
TLIF0005 & TLIF0006 Fatigue Risk Management qualifications (or willingness to obtain)

ASIC (or ability to obtain and maintain)

RACA & AACA qualifications (desirable)

Current Australian Driver's Licence Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience within transport, logistics, aviation or distribution operations.

Strong knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety legislation.

Experience managing HVNL and Chain of Responsibility compliance.

Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.

NHVAS compliance and audit experience.

Injury management and return-to-work coordination.

Experience writing procedures, training materials and operational documentation.

Ability to engage confidently with operational teams, customers and senior leaders.

Airfreight or aviation industry experience will be highly regarded.
