The Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to join a high-performing engineering and delivery team.
This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, integrating, automating, and supporting secure enterprise infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. You will play a key role in delivering modern infrastructure capabilities, supporting platform integrations, improving operational resilience, and ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and available.
The ideal candidate will bring strong cloud infrastructure expertise, broad systems engineering capability, and experience working within complex enterprise or government environments. Defence or secure-environment experience will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions across production and non-production environments.
- Build, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux server platforms.
- Administer and support identity, authentication, and access management technologies.
- Implement infrastructure automation, scripting, and operational efficiencies across enterprise platforms.
- Support platform integration, application deployment, and environment management activities.
- Configure and maintain virtualisation platforms, storage, backup, and recovery solutions.
- Support secure network infrastructure including DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and secure connectivity solutions.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, hardening standards, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, patching, modernisation, and platform refresh initiatives.
- Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and availability across enterprise environments.
- Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure, systems, and application issues.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, architects, security specialists, DevOps engineers, and operational support teams.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including solution designs, operational procedures, support guides, architecture diagrams, and implementation documentation.
- Support change management, release management, service transition, and operational governance processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
What You'll Need
- Experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or comparable infrastructure platforms.
- Strong Windows and/or Linux administration experience.
- Experience with Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), Identity and Access Management (IAM), PKI, and authentication technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications and integrated technology environments.
- Strong PowerShell, Bash, Python, or automation scripting capability.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies, storage platforms, and backup solutions.
- Experience supporting enterprise networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, firewall policies, and secure communications.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and operational support practices.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, compliance, governance, and hardening principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and delivery teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within Defence, Federal Government, National Security, or other secure environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar).
- Experience with container platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tooling including Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Bamboo.
- Experience implementing identity governance, privileged access management (PAM), and Zero Trust security models.
- Exposure to Secure Gateway, Protected, Secret, or highly regulated environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise transformation, cloud migration, or infrastructure modernisation programs.
- Knowledge of ITIL service management practices and operational governance frameworks.
