We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Cook to become an integral member of our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of high-quality dishes while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and maintaining efficient kitchen operations. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine food ingredients to ensure they meet quality, freshness and food safety standards before preparation.
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of meals in accordance with established recipes, menu specifications and customer expectations.
- Regulate and monitor the temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked safely and consistently.
- Season, portion and plate meals, adding appropriate sauces, gravies and garnishes to ensure high presentation standards.
- Prepare meals to accommodate customers with special dietary requirements, allergies and food intolerances.
- Assist in planning menus, developing seasonal specials and estimating food quantities and ingredient requirements.
- Monitor stock levels, receive and inspect deliveries, and ensure food is stored correctly in temperature-controlled facilities.
- Minimise food wastage through effective stock rotation and inventory management.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen in compliance with food safety legislation and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service.
- Assist in training and supervising junior kitchen staff and apprentices to ensure consistency in food preparation and kitchen procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.
- Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, commercial kitchen operations and food safety standards.
- Ability to prepare a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification is preferred plus three years of full time work experience.
- You must be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or hold unrestricted full-time work rights in Australia.

Pay: $79,500.00 – $80,000.00 per year
