Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional looking to take the next step in your career? Join our Financial Shared Services team as a Senior Accounts Payable Officer, where you'll play a key role in ensuring the delivery of efficient, accurate, and compliant accounts payable services while supporting and mentoring a high-performing AP team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on accounts payable expertise with leadership responsibilities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Please note this role is based out of our Collins Street office, supporting hybrid working arrangements and is only open to Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents.
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Team Lead, you will act as a senior member of the team, supporting day-to-day operations and providing leadership support when required. You'll be responsible for overseeing end-to-end AP processes, supporting payment runs, driving process improvements, and ensuring service levels are consistently achieved.
As the deputy to the AP Team Lead, you'll help manage workloads, resolve escalations, and provide coaching and support to Accounts Payable Officers.
What You'll Do

Provide operational support and leadership coverage for the Accounts Payable Team Lead when required.

Assist with coordinating team workloads and prioritising daily activities.

Support Accounts Payable Officers during high-volume periods and provide leave coverage.

Oversee end-to-end invoice processing and reconciliation activities.

Prepare and review payment runs, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AP processing and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) solutions.

Coach, train and support Accounts Payable Officers to drive team capability and performance.

Monitor team performance against service standards and KPIs.

Support the implementation and enhancement of AP policies, procedures and finance systems.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Bring
-
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Senior Accounts Payable position.

Strong understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable processes.

Proven experience using SAP S4 Accounts Payable modules and workflows.

Experience supporting or implementing OCR technologies.

Previous experience processing high-volume transactions within a shared services or corporate environment.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience within telecommunications, utilities, transport or related industries.
