The Role
As a Barista at Sweet Belem Barangaroo, you’ll be part of a passionate front-of-house team delivering consistently great coffee, warm customer service and beautifully presented Portuguese pastries.
This role is suited to someone who takes pride in their coffee, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and understands that a great customer experience is about more than simply making drinks.
You’ll be responsible for preparing quality espresso coffee and beverages while also supporting the wider front-of-house operation. This includes serving customers, taking orders, maintaining presentation standards and helping create the welcoming atmosphere that defines the Sweet Belem brand.
You’ll work with modern equipment, quality ingredients and a team that values consistency, organisation and genuine hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare consistently high-quality espresso coffee and beverages
- Dial in the coffee machine and monitor coffee quality throughout the day
- Maintain correct recipes, presentation and service standards
- Deliver warm, friendly and professional customer service
- Take customer orders accurately using the POS system
- Serve pastries, cakes, coffee and cold drinks to Sweet Belem standards
- Maintain a clean, organised and well-presented coffee station
- Monitor and replenish milk, coffee beans, cups and beverage ingredients
- Work efficiently during busy service periods without compromising quality
- Communicate clearly with the front-of-house and pastry kitchen teams
- Follow food safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures
- Assist with opening, closing, setup and pack-down duties
- Help create an environment where customers feel welcome and want to return
What We’re Looking For
- Previous barista experience in a café, bakery or hospitality environment
- Confidence preparing espresso-based coffee and managing a busy coffee station
- A genuine passion for coffee, customer service and hospitality
- Friendly, positive and professional attitude
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working as part of a team
- Willingness to learn, receive feedback and continually improve
- Availability across weekdays and weekends
Experience in premium cafés, high-volume coffee environments or specialty coffee is highly regarded.
However, we’re equally interested in people with the right attitude, strong foundations and a genuine desire to become an important part of the Sweet Belem team.

Trading Hours
Monday–Saturday: 7:00am–9:00pm
Sunday: 7:00am–6:00pm
Typical shifts range from 4–8 hours.
Full-time, part-time and casual opportunities are available.

Pay: From $33.00 per hour
