What you'll be doing
To allow Trainees to complete the requirements of training for Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, as specified in the College training program, whilst providing anaesthetic care to patients under the supervision of a nominated Consultant. This position allows for the development of skills required for independent practice in anaesthesia, exposure to one or more areas of anaesthesia subspecialty practice according to Trainee interest, as well as the opportunity to undertake non-clinical sessions for research, with an expectation of significant academic accomplishment in the 12 month appointment.
All decision-making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the medical officer's skills, knowledge, and experience. The Trainee will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance and at the discretion of a supervising Consultant. All patients managed within SLHD are under the direct care of a Specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care should be clearly communicated with the Specialist responsible.
