NDIS Support Worker – Personal Care | Bondi Junction
Location: Bondi Junction, NSW
Shifts: Wednesday & Friday, 10:00am–12:00pm
Hours: Initially 2-hour shifts, with potential for hours to increase as the participant becomes comfortable with the worker.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate and patient Support Worker to provide personal care and daily living assistance to a female NDIS participant living in Bondi Junction.
The participant values her independence and is looking for a worker who can take the time to build trust and establish a comfortable working relationship. Support will initially commence with short shifts on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00am–12:00pm, with the opportunity to gradually increase support as the participant becomes more comfortable.
The participant is currently recovering from a fractured wrist and may require additional assistance with personal care and everyday tasks while she recovers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respectful and person-centred personal care support.
- Assist with showering and personal hygiene as required.
- Assist with dressing and other daily living activities where needed.
- Support the participant to maintain her independence and dignity.
- Provide assistance around the home where relevant to the participant's immediate support needs.
- Encourage independence rather than completing tasks unnecessarily on the participant's behalf.
- Build a positive, professional and trusting relationship with the participant.
- Monitor and communicate any concerns or changes in support needs appropriately.
- Follow the participant's support plan, preferences and organisational procedures.
About the Participant
The participant is an older adult who values remaining safe and independent in her own home. Her goals include improving her wellbeing, mobility and independence, participating in activities she enjoys and gradually increasing her community participation.
The successful worker will need to understand that rapport and consistency are particularly important. A calm, patient and non-rushed approach will be essential.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience providing personal care or disability support.
- A compassionate, respectful and person-centred approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and the ability to build rapport gradually.
- Reliability and availability for the regular Wednesday and Friday shifts.
- An understanding of supporting people experiencing fatigue, reduced mobility or mental health-related support needs.
- Ability to promote choice, dignity and independence.
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working with Children Check where applicable.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Relevant disability/community services qualifications or experience preferred.
- Appropriate work rights in Australia.
Availability
Applicants must be available:
Wednesday: 10:00am–12:00pm
Friday: 10:00am–12:00pm
These will initially be short, consistent shifts while the participant becomes familiar and comfortable with the worker. There may be opportunities for additional or longer shifts in the future depending on the participant's needs and preferences.
If you are a patient, dependable Support Worker who takes pride in providing respectful and genuinely person-centred care, we would love to hear from you.
