We are seeking an experienced and motivated Health and Wellbeing Officer to deliver innovative health promotion programs, collaborative partnerships, and elevate and embed public health research and approaches across the work of Council.
About the role:
The Health & Wellbeing Officer plays a key role in advancing Darebin's public health priorities through the delivery of evidence-based health promotion programs and strategic partnerships with diverse communities. Working within the Equity, Inclusion and Wellbeing team, you will contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP), helping to address health inequalities and improve outcomes for our diverse community. You will apply social determinants of health and systems change approaches to Council’s work, and translate health research and models into practical initiatives.
You will:
- Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of Darebin's Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
- Design and deliver evidence-based physical and mental health promotion programs that improve community wellbeing and reduce health inequities.
- Identify and manage grants, funding opportunities and partnerships that support public health outcomes.
- Engage with community members, health services, Primary Health Networks and key stakeholders to strengthen health and wellbeing planning and initiatives.
- Monitor health trends, evaluate program outcomes and prepare reports to inform planning and continuous improvement.
About you:
We are looking for:
- Experience in local government public health and wellbeing.
- Knowledge of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and MPHWP planning requirements.
- Understanding of social determinants of health, health equity principles and public health frameworks.
- Proven ability to engage stakeholders, community members and partner organisations in health programs.
- Tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in health promotion or community wellbeing program design and delivery.
