The Role
As a Community Engagement Officer, you'll play a key role in delivering community engagement and communications initiatives that connect residents with Council projects, programs and priorities.
Working as part of the Communications & Engagement team, you'll support the planning and delivery of consultation activities, engagement campaigns and communications that keep our community informed, involved and heard. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders, residents and community groups to help ensure engagement activities are meaningful, inclusive and aligned with best practice principles.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support the planning and delivery of community engagement activities that encourage participation and strengthen connections between Council and the community.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, community groups and key stakeholders across the Georges River area.
- Create and coordinate engaging content across a range of print and digital communication channels.
- Manage and update Council's Your Say engagement platform, helping to deliver effective online consultation activities.
- Develop clear, accessible and engaging communications that align with Council's brand and communication standards.
- Coordinate multiple projects and priorities, ensuring activities are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Maintain community and stakeholder databases and support the development of digital resources for communications and engagement initiatives.
About You
We're seeking a proactive and community-minded professional who is passionate about engaging with people and delivering positive outcomes. You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in communications, community engagement, public relations, marketing or a related field.
- Experience in communications, community engagement or a similar role.
- The ability to manage sensitive, confidential and sometimes complex issues with professionalism and sound judgement.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Confidence using a range of digital systems and technology, with the ability to quickly learn new platforms and tools.
- A strong customer focus, with the ability to build positive working relationships and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
What We Offer
- Permanent full time – 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $84,553.96 to $97,968.63 p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
