ABOUT THE POSITION:
We have two Learning Facilitator opportunities at Scienceworks, delivering learning programs, workshops and shows - including Lightning Theatre and Planetarium - for booked education groups and the general public. You will use professional judgement to optimise learning for diverse audiences, and you will be accountable for facilitating programs, workshops, activities and shows in a way that engages our audiences and meets Museums Victoria's objectives and priorities.
Some of the key duties include:
- Facilitating learning programs, workshops and shows for education groups and the general public at Scienceworks and other venues as needed
- Using contemporary digital tools to deliver engaging educational experiences, including troubleshooting and device management
- Supporting and supervising new staff and volunteers with program and procedure familiarisation, peer-to-peer learning and procedural training
- Setting up and packing up programs, maintaining materials and resources, and initiating improvements as required
- Providing feedback on audience response, implementing evaluation tools and participating in debriefs
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrable experience facilitating programs, workshops or shows to diverse audiences, with the ability to respond to audience needs
- Well-developed communication, presentation and problem-solving skills
- Awareness of current education and learning techniques for diverse audiences, including the needs of primary and secondary school audiences
- Demonstrated ability to interpret science concepts for diverse audiences
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision, both independently and in teams
OTHER INFORMATION
Two irregular part-time positions are available, both based at Scienceworks - one at 0.26 FTE and one at 0.13 FTE. Flexible availability to work across a 7-day operation is required, and a current Victorian Driver's Licence is required. The salary on offer is VPS Grade 2, Value Range 2 - $72,189 per annum, pro rata + 12% Superannuation.
