1. Company Overview
At MTIS Group, we keep some of the region’s most critical industries moving!
Since 2006, we have delivered industrial projects, life-cycle services, and product fulfilment solutions to the mining, construction, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors. Operating from our Salisbury, Queensland headquarters and with established operations in Papua New Guinea since 2016, we support major projects across Australia and the Pacific.
We're a hands-on, solutions-focused business that values teamwork, innovation, and getting the job done right. While we take our work seriously, we also believe work should be rewarding, challenging, and enjoyable. We are committed to creating opportunities for our people to learn new skills, build successful careers, and be part of a supportive team environment.
2. Role Overview
We're growing, and that means we're looking for another great Technician to join our team.
If you enjoy working with your hands, solving technical problems, and taking pride in quality workmanship, this could be the role for you. You'll be responsible for testing, overhauling, repairing, and recertifying pressure safety valves, as well as calibrating industrial pressure gauges used in some of the region’s most important industries.
No two days are exactly the same. You'll work alongside experienced technicians, develop specialist skills, and play an important role in ensuring critical equipment operates safely and reliably. If you're looking for a practical, rewarding role with opportunities to grow and learn, we'd love to hear from you.
3. Why This Is Exciting
This is a genuine ground-floor opportunity for someone early in their technical career who wants to be part of building something, not just stepping into a finished operation.
Our Australian calibration and testing division is in its early growth phase. We're working toward ISO/IEC 17025 NATA accreditation, expanding our scope of services, and laying the foundations of a quality management system from the ground up. The right person will be involved in all of it.
Day-to-day, you'll be doing a mix of hands-on technical work, calibrating pressure instruments, testing and recertifying pressure safety valves, setting up and operating test equipment, alongside documentation, procedure writing, and quality system development. Some days will be more workshop, some days more desk. Flexibility and willingness to pitch in across both is key.
You'll also have the opportunity to support broader activities across our engineering and projects business when calibration workload allows, making this a role with genuine variety and long-term career potential well beyond a single discipline.
Working closely with the Calibration Manager, you'll be involved in refining procedures, improving processes, and helping shape the future of our testing operations. Your ideas and contributions won't disappear into a corporate black hole- they'll help influence the way we work.
4. What You Will Get To Do
- Calibrate industrial pressure gauges and instruments across a range of pressure classes and accuracy grades.
- Perform testing, overhaul, and recertification of spring-loaded pressure safety valves.
- Set up and operate high-pressure test equipment and calibrated reference instruments.
- Complete accurate, auditable test records and calibration certificates.
- Assist in developing and refining testing procedures and work instructions in support of NATA accreditation.
- Contribute to quality management system development including document control, non-conformance reporting, and process improvement.
- Support the Calibration Manager with general technical and administrative tasks as the division grows.
- Assist across wider engineering and project activities within the MTIS Group as required.
Who We Are Looking For
We're not looking for someone who has done everything already. We're looking for someone sharp, adaptable, and genuinely interested in learning how a quality-accredited technical business operates from the inside out.
You'll be a good fit if you have:
- A degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline, or a trade background with demonstrated technical aptitude.
- Some practical exposure to industrial equipment, instrumentation, testing, or maintenance environments, even if it's been varied rather than specialised.
- A genuine interest in metrology, quality systems, and precision technical work.
- Strong attention to detail and the discipline to produce clean, accurate documentation.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Willingness to take on whatever needs doing and adapt as the role evolves.
- Right to work in Australia (essential).
Prior experience with pressure testing, valve overhaul, or calibration is advantageous but not required. What matters more is your attitude, your technical foundation, and your willingness to grow into the role.
