With a busy Barrel Hall restaurant and Cellar Door operating 7 days, alongside a diverse calendar of weddings, private dinners, corporate functions, concerts and large-scale events, our kitchen operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
We are seeking an experienced and professional Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. This role would suit a chef who enjoys variety, thrives under pressure and has experience working in both high-volume restaurant service and event catering.
About the Role
As a Chef de Partie, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider hospitality team to deliver consistently high-quality food across restaurant service and events.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and the ability to remain organised, calm and efficient is essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking high-quality food for restaurant service, weddings, functions and events
- Working efficiently during busy and high-volume service periods while maintaining quality and presentation standards
- Supporting the kitchen team in the preparation and execution of large-scale events, weddings, private dinners and concerts
- Taking responsibility for your designated section and ensuring it is organised, clean and service-ready
- Working independently when required while following direction and maintaining clear communication with senior chefs
- Assisting with preparation, service, plating and pack-down across both restaurant and event operations
- Working collaboratively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, kitchen team and FOH staff to meet daily operational requirements
- Maintaining composure and a positive attitude during busy and high-pressure services
- Ensuring food preparation, storage and kitchen areas are maintained to a high standard
- Adhering to food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
- Assisting with stock rotation, minimising waste and maintaining appropriate levels of stock
- Adapting to changing menus, event requirements and service demands
- Communicating professionally with team members, suppliers and customers when required
About You
We are looking for an experienced Chef de Partie who is passionate about hospitality and takes pride in producing high-quality food in a professional kitchen environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
- Experience across restaurant service and functions/events, with experience in weddings and large-scale events highly regarded
- The ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards during busy services
- A positive “can do” attitude and willingness to contribute to a hardworking team environment
- The ability to work independently, follow direction and take ownership of your section
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm, professional and productive under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
- A genuine passion for the hospitality industry and delivering exceptional food and guest experiences
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and during peak event periods

Pay: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
