We are seeking a skilled and motivated Auto Electrician to join our Construction Machines Repairs Workshop at Perth Branch, reporting directly to the Workshop Supervisor. In this role, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair Caterpillar equipment while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
About Perth Branch
WesTrac's Perth Branch Construction Machines Repairs Workshop specialises in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Caterpillar construction equipment. The team is committed to delivering safe, high-quality repair solutions that maximise machine reliability and customer satisfaction.
Roster: 5 Days On, 2 Days Off 10.5 Hours per Shift (inclusive of a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
What You'll Do
- Perform a wide range of auto electrical diagnostics, maintenance, and repair tasks on Caterpillar construction and earthmoving equipment, ensuring all work is completed to OEM specifications and safety standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults across machine systems, including wiring harnesses, sensors, control modules, lighting, and communication networks.
- Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, breakdown repairs, component replacements, and machine overhauls to maximise equipment reliability and availability.
- Complete electrical testing, fault finding, and commissioning activities using diagnostic tools and Caterpillar systems.
- Assist with machine upgrades, modifications, and the installation of electrical accessories and customer-specified options as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and planners to prioritise workloads and meet workshop repair schedules and customer expectations.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement while adhering to all WesTrac policies and procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Australian-recognised Auto Electrical Trade Certificate.
- Previous experience diagnosing and repairing heavy earthmoving, mining, construction, or mobile equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and electronic machine systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
