Golding is on the lookout for a Specialist Mining Surveyor to be based at the Baralaba Coal Mine

Golding is on the lookout for a Specialist Mining Surveyor to be based at the Baralaba Coal Mine. Reporting directly to the Technical Services Manager, the successful candidate will support our mining projects with mine surveying and operational technology assistance.
Flights from Brisbane, camp accommodation/housing, and meals will all be provided during your roster. This role will operate on a Monday to Friday roster with flexible arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture, manage, and deliver survey data using modern surveying technology and mining software.
- Maintain survey datasets to support operational, statutory, and business reporting requirements.
- Ensure survey data remains accurate, reliable, and compliant with Recognised Standard 10 and legislative requirements.
- Review mine designs, plans, and operational layouts to support safe, compliant, and efficient mining activities.
- Provide field survey guidance and maintain survey standards to support excavation and dump plan delivery.
- Analyse survey data to produce plans, reconciliations, volume reports, and operational insights.
- Provide technical support across mining survey systems, machine guidance technology, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor the application of survey systems and processes, regularly reviewing their effectiveness and implementing improvements where required.
- Lead and support the survey team, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and high performance.
- Manage survey equipment, system applications, and budgets to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
- Contribute technical expertise to projects, investigations, stakeholder engagement, and business improvement initiatives.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve surveying hardware, software, systems, and processes.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Surveying or a related discipline.
- Registration as a Surveyor with the Surveyors Board of Queensland, including Open Cut Endorsement, highly regarded but not essential.
- Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) highly regarded.
- Strong technical knowledge of mine surveying principles, practices, and legislative requirements.
- Proven ability to analyse survey data, support operational decision-making, and lead survey teams.
- A sound understanding of mining operations and mine surveying requirements.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Experience with Trimble GNSS and Total Stations, Maptek scanners, and drone survey technology will be highly regarded.
- Proficiency in Vulcan, PointStudio, ArcGIS Pro, Agisoft, or similar surveying and spatial software packages will be advantageous.
- A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic mining environment.
