- Flexible, hybrid working environment
Own the future direction of security technology across Australia’s leading Superannuation Fund
-
At AustralianSuper , we truly care about our colleagues. We know work and life are intertwined. That’s why we support the diverse needs of everyone and have policies that enable us all to thrive and be truly flexible. We ensure diversity is celebrated for the opportunity it provides us all to learn and grow and deliver better outcomes for members.
Your New Role
Are you a security technology leader who enjoys shaping strategy, influencing decisions and defining what "good" looks like across a complex technology landscape?
As Security Technology Lead , you'll be responsible for owning and evolving the Fund’s Security Technology Roadmap, ensuring investment decisions, capability uplift and technology direction are aligned to business strategy, risk priorities and the future needs of the organisation.
This is a leadership role, but not a people leadership role. Instead, you'll provide technical leadership and strategic direction across the Fund, partnering closely with the CISO, Security Architecture Services, Technology teams and senior stakeholders to determine the optimal security technology landscape for AustralianSuper.
You’ll need to understand the Fund’s unique environment, business priorities and risk profile, balancing industry best practice, emerging threat landscapes and practical delivery considerations. We’re looking for someone who understands that there is no one-size-fits-all answer to security technology strategy, and who can apply sound judgement to determine what is right for AustralianSuper.
You'll also play an important external role, building strong relationships with strategic technology partners and vendors such as Microsoft, ensuring AustralianSuper influences and benefits from emerging capabilities, product direction and industry-leading practices.
What You’ll Do
- Own and evolve the Security Technology Roadmap, defining future-state security capabilities, priorities and investment recommendations
- Provide strategic security technology leadership across Member, Investment, Data, Risk and Enterprise Technology domains
- Partner with the CISO, architects, engineers and technology leaders to shape the Fund’s long-term security technology direction
- Assess emerging threats, technologies, vendor offerings and security trends, translating them into practical recommendations and capability uplift opportunities
- Build strong relationships with strategic vendors and partners to ensure AustralianSuper remains informed, influential and aligned to leading practices
Drive security-by-design, security capability maturity and continuous improvement across security technologies, standards and patterns
-
What You’ll Need
- Extensive experience in information security, security architecture, security engineering or security technology leadership roles within complex organisations
- Strong experience developing technology roadmaps, strategic direction and long-term capability plans
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across executive, business and technical stakeholder groups
- Deep understanding of security technologies, cloud platforms, identity and access management, infrastructure, networks and enterprise technology environments
- Experience operating within regulated environments, ideally financial services or similarly complex industries
- Strong understanding of security risk, security architecture, cyber threats and modern security practices
- Experience working closely with architecture, engineering, operations and delivery teams to drive security outcomes at scale
- A strategic mindset, strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance risk, investment and business outcomes
Highly Regarded
- Experience working within Microsoft-centric environments, including the Microsoft Security technology stack
- Exposure to Azure, cloud security, identity platforms and modern DevSecOps practices
- Experience working with major technology vendors and influencing technology roadmaps through strategic partnerships
Strong interest in AI-enabled security capabilities, automation and emerging security technologies
