We are looking for a Research and Development Manager to lead and coordinate the organisation’s research and innovation activities, translating ideas into commercially and strategically valuable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement research and development strategies aligned with organisational goals and market opportunities
- Plan, prioritise, and oversee research projects to support product, service, or policy innovation
- Lead multidisciplinary research teams, providing technical direction, mentoring, and performance oversight
- Establish research priorities, milestones, and success measures to ensure timely and effective delivery
- Monitor research expenditure, assess cost-effectiveness, and optimise allocation of R&D resources
- Analyse and interpret research outcomes, translating findings into actionable recommendations and innovations
- Advise senior stakeholders on emerging research opportunities, risks, and development pathways
- Track leading-edge developments in relevant disciplines and assess their strategic implications
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support knowledge transfer and commercialisation
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and executive-level briefings on research outcomes and progress
- Ensure research activities comply with organisational policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the publication or dissemination of significant research findings where appropriate
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, technology, or a related discipline
- Proven experience managing research and development programs within a commercial, academic, or policy environment
- Strong capability in research planning, data analysis, and interpretation of complex findings
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical or research-focused teams
- Experience developing R&D strategies, roadmaps, and performance measures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement
- Strong project management, budgeting, and risk-management capabilities
- Ability to align research outputs with business, commercial, or policy objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant discipline
- Experience in commercialisation, product development, or applied research environments
- Familiarity with government, industry, or grant-funded research frameworks
- Experience publishing peer-reviewed research or industry-focused technical papers
- Knowledge of intellectual property management and innovation lifecycles
