Job Description:
The Sales Engineer role is an Australia‑based position providing centralised technical expertise and support across innovation, technology development, and sales enablement. Working closely with Engineering, Sales, and Product teams, this role supports commercial and tendering activities, harmonises best practices, and delivers high‑quality technical solutions aligned with customer and market needs.
This position plays a key role in translating complex energy technologies into compelling, customer‑focused solutions for the Australian market.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Product Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales and Product Management teams to develop and implement strategies aligned with business objectives and customer requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Develop a strong understanding of Fluence’s solutions and next‑generation technologies, translating technical capabilities into clear, market‑relevant value propositions.
- Customer Engagement: Engage directly with customers to identify requirements, deliver technical demonstrations, and present solutions in customer meetings, industry forums, and tender processes.
- Proposals & Tender Support: Support commercial, proposal, and tendering activities by providing robust technical inputs and solution engineering expertise.
- Market & Competitor Insight: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to continuously improve sales engineering approaches and solution offerings.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with customers and partners to support long‑term satisfaction and collaboration.
- Product Feedback Loop: Collaborate with product development teams to relay customer insights and contribute to ongoing product and solution improvements.
- Sales Strategy Support: Contribute to the development and execution of sales strategies across Australia and the broader APAC region.
- Travel: Periodic travel within the APAC region is required.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or Power systems
- Technical Background: Strong technical background in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or Solar Energy Systems, with the ability to understand and clearly explain complex technical solutions to diverse audiences. Experience with grid‑forming capabilities is highly regarded.
- Australian Project Experience: At least 3 years’ experience supporting Australian projects, ideally within commercial, proposal, or tendering environments.
- Relevant Experience Pathways: Experience in sales engineering or solution engineering is highly regarded. Candidates with transferable technical and commercial skills are encouraged to apply.
- Problem Solving & Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to analyse challenges, develop solutions, and think strategically in a commercial context.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Customer‑Centric Mindset: Proven ability to understand customer needs and propose solutions that deliver value.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and responding effectively to changing customer and market conditions.
