About Foxleigh Mine:
Foxleigh Mine is located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin coalfield, 12km south of Middlemount and 272km northwest of Rockhampton. The mine was established in 1999 as an open cut operation producing benchmark quality, LV PCI coal for the export market.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Operational Technology Specialist plays a key role in driving the performance, reliability, security and innovation of site-based technology systems.
This is a Monday–Friday site-based role, offering consistency and work-life balance while still being embedded in a dynamic mining environment.
You will work closely with all departments onsite to ensure the effective operation, integration and continuous improvement of critical operational technology systems across site. You will also act as the site technical owner for key OT systems, communications infrastructure and technology projects that support safe, reliable and efficient mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
OT Systems Support & Ownership

Act as the site technical owner for operational technology systems, ensuring systems remain reliable, available and fit-for-purpose.

Support, install, maintain and optimise site-based systems including Fleet Management Systems (FMS), High Precision GPS (HPGPS), Fatigue Management Systems (FMS), payload management and telemetry systems.

Troubleshoot system issues, outages and performance concerns to minimise operational disruption.

Coordinate and manage vendors and service providers to ensure systems meet OEM and site requirements.
Communications & Infrastructure

Maintain communications infrastructure including LTE, Wi-Fi, radio networks, Starlink and point-to-point communications.

Ensure communications networks remain reliable, secure and capable of supporting operational requirements.

Coordinate maintenance, upgrades and expansion of communications infrastructure across site.
Projects & Technology Delivery

Support the delivery of OT projects from concept through to implementation and operational handover, ensuring successful adoption and long-term performance.

Assist with commissioning, upgrades, testing and system rollouts.

Lead technology trials and proofs of concept, supporting the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies.

Develop and maintain implementation plans, technical documentation, support models and user guidance materials.
Cyber Security, Governance & Integration

Identify and manage cyber security risks across the OT environment.

Support the integration of OT, maintenance and business systems to maximise operational value and data integrity.

Maintain system documentation, asset registers and technical records in accordance with governance requirements.

Work closely with IT teams to ensure systems remain secure, compliant and fit-for-purpose.
Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, reliability and system performance.

Drive innovation and optimisation of operational technology across site.

Support technology adoption through effective stakeholder engagement, training and change management activities.

Develop SOPs, technical procedures and user documentation to support ongoing system performance.
About You
You are a technically capable and solutions-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced mining environment.
You will bring:

Trade qualification in Electrical, Auto Electrical, Electronics & Communications, Instrumentation, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Network Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience supporting Operational Technology (OT), Fleet Management Systems (FMS), High Precision GPS (HPGPS), communications infrastructure or mining technology systems.

Strong knowledge of OT networks including Wi-Fi, LTE, radio and communications infrastructure.

Experience delivering technology projects, upgrades and system implementations.

Experience working with vendors, contractors and cross-functional teams.
-
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills.
-
A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Open Cabling Licence.

Current Open Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
Highly Regarded:
-
Experience with systems such as Wenco, Titan, MineStar, Modular, HPGPS, Rajant or Starlink.

Exposure to OT cyber security, industrial networking, autonomy, telemetry or equipment health systems.

Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Automation or a related field.

Experience within an open-cut coal mining environment.

Standard 11 & Health Assessment or ability to obtain.

Mining Supervisor (G1, G8, G9) Competencies.
