Details: The City and Environment Directorate is seeking an experienced and highly capable Director, Program Governance and Reporting to lead governance, reporting, risk, procurement and financial management functions for major transformation programs across the Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to smarter, more connected government services that support Canberra’s future. The role sits within the Data, Projects and Improvements Division, which drives data-led insights, strategic planning, project delivery and continuous improvement across CED.
About the role
Under limited direction, the Director will provide high-level leadership across program governance and reporting functions, ensuring program delivery is transparent, compliant, well governed and aligned with ACT Government frameworks and policies.
The successful applicant will oversee program reporting, risk and assurance practices, financial forecasting, some procurement activities, quality assurance processes and secretariat support for key governance forums. The role will work closely with project delivery teams, executive leaders, corporate partners, suppliers and government stakeholders to support the successful delivery of strategic transformation initiatives, including the Traffic and Parking Enforcement Solutions Program.
What you will do

Lead governance and reporting of program change, risk, and assurance functions for the major projects team.

Coordinate and quality assure program reporting, governance papers, briefings, correspondence and decision-ready documentation for executives, governance forums and Ministers.

Manage secretariat support for Program Board, Program Control Group and related governance meetings, including agendas, minutes, papers and action registers.

Oversee financial management, forecasting, budget monitoring, variance analysis and reporting in line with ACT Government financial management requirements.

Manage sourcing and procurement activities for specialist delivery partners and support services.

Develop and maintain deliverable review and acceptance processes to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Lead day-to-day operational delivery of the governance, procurement and finance functions, including workflow planning, issue resolution, escalation management and resource prioritisation.

Lead, support and develop staff in an activity-based work environment.

We are looking for a collaborative and outcomes-focused leader with strong experience in program governance, procurement, financial management and executive reporting. You will bring sound judgement, strong organisational discipline and the ability to provide high-quality advice in a complex and fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage competing priorities, build productive relationships across multidisciplinary teams, communicate with influence and support robust decision-making through clear, accurate and timely information. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to ACT Government values, workplace respect, inclusion, safety and public sector integrity.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
- To be eligible for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens.

Qualifications in public sector management, project management, procurement and/or finance are desirable.

Demonstrated working knowledge of ACT Government business activities in a project environment is highly desirable.
