Bogan Shire Council is seeking an experienced, community‑focused professional to undertake a 12‑month maternity relief placement in the role of Manager Community Services. Key Focus Areas of the Relief Role
Community Facility Operations

Oversee daily operations at the Bogan Shire Library, ensuring responsive customer service, program coordination and smooth service delivery
- Manage activities and staff at the Bogan Shire Youth & Community Centre, supporting youth engagement and community use
- Coordinate the Nyngan Visitor Information Centre, including tourism enquiries, visitor support and promotion of local attractions
Tourism Support

Assist with implementing Council’s tourism strategy
- Maintain relationships with regional tourism bodies and stakeholders
- Support initiatives that promote Nyngan and the wider Bogan Shire as a welcoming visitor destination
Grants & Funding

Identify grant opportunities for Council and the community
- Prepare or support the preparation of grant applications, submissions and reporting
Community Engagement

Undertake engagement activities with local organisations, community groups and State Government stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong networks that support community participation and service delivery
Council Events & Community Activities

Coordinate major Council events including Australia Day and ANZAC Day
- Assist with annual community activities such as:
- Christmas Lights Competition
- Rural Mailbox Competition
- Seniors Week
- Youth Week
- Support other community celebrations, programs and initiatives as required
Leadership & Reporting

Provide guidance, support and leadership to staff across Library, Youth & Community Centre and Visitor Information Centre operations
- Prepare operational reports, monitor budgets and ensure compliance with Council processes and WHS obligations
Salary and Benefits

Grade 7: $1,956.17 to $2,264.48 (based on qualifications and experience)

What We’re Looking For
You’ll have:

Strong experience in community services and a proven record delivering programs, facilities or community development initiatives
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities across Library, Youth & Community Centre and VIC operations
- High‑level communication and engagement capability to work confidently with community groups, stakeholders and government agencies
- Effective leadership skills to support, guide and motivate staff in a customer‑focused environment
- Experience coordinating events similar to Australia Day, Anzac Day, Seniors Week, Youth Week and local community competitions
- Tourism and grants knowledge including identifying funding opportunities and preparing submissions
- Relevant tertiary qualifications at Diploma level plus practical experience
- Mandatory clearances including WWCC and a current driver’s licence
- Strong computer literacy with confidence using Microsoft Office and adapting to Council systems
- A commitment to Council values and delivering responsive, community‑focused services
