Full-Time Chef
Farmers Arms Hotel – Junortoun VIC 3551
Farmers Arms Hotel, located in 1027 McIvor Hwy, Junortoun VIC 3551, is seeking a skilled and motivated full-time Chef (38 hours per week) to join our kitchen team. Located in Junortoun, our venue is a well-established hospitality business offering a diverse menu including pub classics, steak dishes, and curry-based meals.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chef to take on a key role in kitchen operations, menu development, and team support.
Salary
$80,000 – $85,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu standards
- Design and contribute to menu development, including seasonal and special dishes
- Ensure consistency in food quality, portion control, and presentation
- Monitor food preparation processes and kitchen workflow
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
- Assist in training and supervising junior kitchen staff and trainees
- Manage stock levels, food storage, and minimise wastage
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations
Skills and Experience
- Strong ability to prepare and cook meals in a commercial kitchen environment
- Experience in menu planning and dish development
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to supervise and support junior staff
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Experience with both pub-style meals and curry-based cuisine is highly regarded
Qualifications (Essential)
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Certificate IV in Kitchen Management
- Diploma of Hospitality Management
