Reporting to the Education Manager Electrical, this role is responsible for the planning, delivery, assessment and coordination of high-quality vocational education and training programs that meet learner, industry and compliance requirements.
The role assists in the daily operation of programs, including timetabling, staff coordination, student progress and resource planning, and ensures program delivery, development and record management meet regulatory and audit requirements. The role also contributes to curriculum development, supports new staff through mentoring, and engages with stakeholders to promote and enhance programs.
This role suits an experienced educator who is passionate about supporting learner success, continuous improvement of teaching practices and high-quality program delivery.
What You'll Do
- Plan, prepare, teach and assess learning activities that meet learner needs
- Establish and maintain safe and inclusive learning environments that support student learning
- Create and adapt teaching, assessment materials and curriculum content in response to training package and industry requirements
- Design and develop courses, assessment tools and resources within the program area
- Coordinate program activities including timetabling, staff coordination, student progress and resource planning
- Supervise, mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 teachers, including Teachers Under Supervision (TUS)
- Organise and facilitate information sessions, student entry level assessments, course selection interviews and student orientation activities
- Administer and maintain compliance documentation, records and reporting requirements
- Plan, moderate and validate assessment tools and delivery resources
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry, professional bodies, networks and other stakeholders to support continuous improvement and program promotion
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain educational and vocational currency
- Relevant vocational competency and/or qualifications together with current industry knowledge, skills and experience relevant to courses offered within the program area
- Extensive teaching experience with demonstrated ability to deliver, assess and contextualise courses to meet learner, industry and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of learning principles and teaching methodologies with a commitment to learner-centred practice
- Experience supporting, mentoring and guiding teaching staff
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and meet deadlines while working both independently and collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues, industry representatives and other stakeholders
- Strong ICT skills to support teaching, learning and reporting requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in vocational education and training
- Experience coordinating programs, timetables or teaching teams
- Experience developing industry partnerships and engagement opportunities
Qualifications & Mandatory Checks
Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.
Teaching Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 and relevant regulatory standards.
You will have:
AQF Level 6+ teaching qualification that includes:
(a) studies in adult learning methodology
(b) studies in teaching in a Vocational Education environment
(c) studies in Applied Research
(d) 200 hours of supervised practicum.
- Relevant qualifications in your discipline area
- Recent and relevant industry and/or teaching experience
In addition, depending on the role:
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) roles:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), or a diploma or higher qualification in adult or vocational education
- Non-Vocational Education roles (e.g. EAL, AMEP, SEE, Foundation, VCE):
A recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the program (e.g. postgraduate TESOL or equivalent), and demonstrated teaching capability through relevant experience
Applicants who can demonstrate equivalent teaching capability through a combination of qualifications and experience may also be considered.
