Woods Grain Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team in Goondiwindi.
This is a hands-on role supporting our grain handling, processing and packing operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Coordinator, you will undertake preventative maintenance, fault-finding and repairs to help keep the plant operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Complete preventative maintenance and servicing of production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete timely repairs.
- Repair, replace, fit and assemble machinery components and parts.
- Maintain conveyors, augers, elevators, packing equipment and other fixed production plant.
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities through the MEX maintenance system.
- Inspect production equipment and identify emerging maintenance requirements.
- Work with Operations personnel to prioritise maintenance and minimise production disruption.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of maintenance and plant improvement projects.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of maintenance parts and consumables.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, accounted for and removed from production areas after work is completed.
- Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of plant reliability and effectiveness.
- Follow workplace health and safety, isolation, permit, GMP and site procedures.
Qualifications and experience
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- A recognised trade qualification as a Fitter, Fitter and Turner or Fitter/Mechanic, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- At least two years of demonstrated experience in an industrial, production or facilities maintenance environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding, repair and preventative maintenance skills.
- A current driver’s licence.
- A current forklift licence.
- Sound planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a broader team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work constructively with Operations and other departments.
- The physical capacity to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position.
- A reliable, motivated and safety-focused approach to work.
Experience in grain handling, food or feed manufacturing, agricultural processing or a similar production environment will be highly regarded.
Hours and remuneration
This is a full-time position based in Goondiwindi, Queensland.
The position provides:
- Base salary of $80,000 per annum.
- Superannuation in addition to the base salary.
- A minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week.
- Overtime and weekend work as operationally required.
- Payment for overtime in addition to the base salary, in accordance with applicable workplace arrangements.
- A roster to be advised.
