Position: Bartender & Server
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Duty Manager
Position Summary
The Bartender & Server is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service while creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for every guest. This role includes preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, providing table service, maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards, and working collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house team to ensure efficient restaurant operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
- Welcome guests in a friendly, professional, and engaging manner.
- Seat guests where required and present menus.
- Explain menu items, daily specials, beverages, and promotions.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using the POS system.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and professionally.
- Check guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience.
- Resolve minor guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Build rapport with regular customers and contribute to a positive dining atmosphere.
Bar Operations
- Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages according to company recipes and standards.
- Maintain consistency in drink quality and presentation.
- Ensure responsible service of alcohol (RSA) requirements are followed at all times.
- Verify identification when required.
- Restock bar supplies, garnishes, ice, glassware, and beverages throughout the shift.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area.
Food Service
- Serve meals accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor tables and anticipate guest needs.
- Clear and reset tables promptly.
- Assist with takeaway, online, and delivery orders when required.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff regarding special dietary requirements and order modifications.
Cash Handling & POS
- Operate the POS system accurately.
- Process cash, EFTPOS, gift card, and online payments.
- Open and close customer accounts correctly.
- Follow company cash handling procedures.
Venue Presentation
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the restaurant, bar, and service stations.
- Complete opening, closing, and side duties.
- Ensure glassware, cutlery, crockery, and service equipment are clean and ready for service.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house team members.
- Support colleagues during busy service periods.
- Participate in team meetings and training.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional attitude at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality venue is preferred.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (mandatory).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organisational and multitasking skills.
- Professional presentation and positive attitude.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
