About You
This is an opportunity to shape the future of RMIT’s campuses at a genuinely strategic level. As Associate Director, Precincts, you’ll help lead the thinking and commercial direction behind major precinct opportunities across City North, Bundoora and City West, some of the University’s most significant and high-potential development sites. Working closely with senior leaders and external partners, you’ll translate academic, research and partnership ambitions into opportunity statements, investment strategies and commercially viable pathways that support precinct development and urban renewal.
You’ll lead the front-end strategy for major precinct and urban renewal opportunities, bringing together stakeholders, testing ideas, assessing feasibility and shaping business cases that unlock investment. This will involve working across the University and with partners in health, education and the private sector to define space needs, and position RMIT for long-term impact. It’s a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys working in complexity, can influence senior stakeholders, and knows how to turn big strategic ideas into real, investable opportunities.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have:
-
A degree in property development, planning, architecture, or a related field, and/or extensive relevant experience in complex precinct development and urban renewal.
-
Demonstrated experience leading briefing and early planning phases of capital or major projects, preferably in higher education or a comparable environment.
-
Proven ability to translate strategic directions and University learning and research pillars into Precinct development and development opportunities briefs and supporting investment cases.
-
Experience in Precinct delivery scenario development, options assessment and feasibility.
-
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply data to support robust recommendations.
-
Capacity to think strategically about Precinct ecology and partnership place and investment, and to clearly articulate implications and trade-offs.
-
Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with senior executives and leading complex consultations.
-
Excellent communication skills, with a track record of preparing high-quality documentation for senior decision-makers.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
