As Sous Chef, you’ll play an important role in supporting the Executive Chef and leading our kitchen team to deliver great food, great service and a positive team culture. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll help create an environment where our people feel supported, valued and proud of the work they do.
Working alongside our diverse and hardworking kitchen brigade, you’ll help oversee the busy day-to-day operations of the Currumbin RSL kitchen while maintaining consistently high food standards, strong communication and a genuine focus on teamwork.
About the Role
Work closely with our Executive Chef to deliver consistently high-quality food, presentation and portioning across our busy Club operation.
Support the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including stock control, ordering, specials, supplier relationships and equipment care.
Lead by example during service, helping to keep the kitchen organised, calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
Work collaboratively with our Front of House team on food-related matters.
Assist with rostering and labour planning to ensure we have the right team in place to meet operational needs and budget expectations.
Ensure Club policies, procedures and award requirements are followed consistently and professionally.
Safety and Compliance
Champion safe work practices and ensure the kitchen team follows our Food Safety Plan, WHS procedures and Club standards.
Identify, report and help resolve safety concerns or hazards in a timely and practical way.
Ensure incidents and injuries are reported in line with Club procedures.
Support regular toolbox talks and ongoing communication around kitchen safety requirements.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Extensive experience working in a high-volume fast paced kitchen.
Strong leadership skills with a genuine passion for building a positive, respectful and supportive kitchen culture.
The ability to coach, mentor and develop apprentices, trainees and kitchen team members.
A calm and confident approach to managing daily challenges, team communication and service pressures.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well with people across the wider Club.
A practical understanding of performance feedback, team standards and the importance of matters early.
