This particular role is with the CSI-IPT where you will make valuable contributions to the Hobart Class Combat System Upgrades program.
Role Description:
The Senior Combat Systems Safety Engineer, under general direction from the CSI-IPT Safety & Environment Lead, will be responsible for ensuring that Program Safety activities are undertaken in accordance with the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP). Duties will include conducting and leading safety analyses, managing the CSI Hazard Log, the preparation and update of safety artefacts, and attendance and presentation at safety meetings.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead/conduct analyses to identify Safety and Environmental risks emergent from the Combat System design changes, generally in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, or alternative contracted or domain specific standards, this includes:
- System Requirements Hazard Analysis (SRHA)
- Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Health Hazard Analysis (HHA), Environmental Hazard Analysis (EHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA)
- Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA)
- Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA)
- Preparation of safety artefacts including Safety Case Report (SCR), System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Hazard Analysis Report (HAR), Hazard Log (HL), safety related registers and supporting safety analysis.
- Support BAE Systems in the delivery of system safety engineering solutions and advice for projects undertaken within a structured Safety Engineering methodology as described by MIL-STD-882E, or alternative contracted or domain specific standards
- Independent review of peers’ work in relation to product safety, identifying technical risks
- Preparation, attendance and contribution to internal and customer meetings including System Safety Working Groups, Mandated System Reviews and Incremental Progress Reviews
KEY EXPERIENCE:
- Significant understanding/experience with MIL-STD-882E
- Significant experience with qualitative and quantitative safety analysis techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc
- Significant experience applying a safety program within Maritime and/or complex defence acquisition programs
- Sound experience with Naval combat Systems
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering is considered essential
- Hold a NV-1 Defence security clearance and be eligible to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
