Our clients are seeking an experienced
Senior Producer to join a Sydney-based animation studio,
overseeing multiple projects across feature animation and/or VFX-style pipelines. This role is critical to ensuring shows are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest creative and technical standard.
While the studio is based in Sydney, our clients are
open to remote candidates located anywhere within Australia, provided they can work effectively across Australian time zones and collaborate closely with local teams.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Delivery
- Oversee the end-to-end production lifecycle across multiple animation and/or VFX projects
- Develop, maintain, and track detailed production schedules and budgets
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, on scope, and within budget
- Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
Team & Resource Management
- Manage and coordinate multiple teams across different shows and departments
- Work closely with Department Heads and Supervisors to plan staffing and resource needs
- Support producers, coordinators, and production staff through mentorship and leadership
- Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused production environment
Client & Stakeholder Liaison
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and external stakeholders
- Lead client communication, reviews, bids, and change management
- Translate creative and technical feedback into clear production actions
- Build long-term, trusted client relationships
Scheduling, Budgeting & Reporting
- Create and manage schedules using industry-standard tools and methodologies
- Track budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and cash flow using spreadsheets and studio systems
- Provide clear and accurate reporting to studio leadership on project status, risks, and financials
- Manage scope changes and ensure appropriate approvals and cost implications are captured
Pipeline & Systems
- Use ShotGrid (or equivalent production management tools) to track assets, shots, tasks, and milestones
- Collaborate with Pipeline and Technical teams to ensure efficient and scalable workflows
- Promote best practices in production tracking, documentation, and communication
Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years' experience in production, with senior-level responsibility on animation and/or VFX projects
- Background in Feature Animation, Animation Series, and/or VFX
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams across multiple concurrent shows
- Strong capability in:
- Scheduling and resource planning
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Client liaison and stakeholder management
- Spreadsheet-based tracking and analysis
- ShotGrid or similar production tracking software
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proven ability to lead teams remotely as well as onsite
- Calm, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
