The Department of Medicine at the Mackay Base Hospital is looking for a Staff Specialist, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine to join their team on a Permanent Full-Time basis (80 hrs p.f.).

Your opportunity
The successful candidate is expected to provide contemporary specialist respiratory and sleep services across inpatient, outpatient and consultative settings within the Mackay HHS. The role offers exposure to a broad and professionally rewarding clinical case mix, with responsibility for delivering safe, evidenced based and patient centred care aligned the values of the MHHS. This position works collaboratively within the Department of Medicine and supports the Clinical Director in the delivery of high-quality clinical services, strategic service development and achievement of organisational objectives.
Role-specific responsibilities:
Provide specialist respiratory assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for inpatients, outpatients and referred patients across the health service.
Undertaken respiratory procedural services, including bronchoscopy and other scope of practice interventions.
Delivery timely consultative services to medical, surgical and emergency teams to support whole of hospital patient flow and outcomes.
Contribute to the development and expansion of respiratory services, including models of care and outreach services.
About the Department of Medicine
The Staff Specialist will join a multidisciplinary team of 18 FTE physicians representing a broad range of subspecialties, including Acute Medicine, Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Palliative Care Medicine, and Rehabilitation Medicine.

The General Medicine Department is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for Basic Physician Training and Advanced Training in General Medicine and works closely with Cardiology, which provides a 24/7 Primary PCI service, as well as Emergency Medicine (FACEM-led) and Intensive Care (CICM-led) services.
