Our City Spaces contribute to the City of Sydney’s vision for a socially just and inclusive city by providing the community with access to a variety of public facing Community Centres and Venues for hire, as well as a range of other community buildings used for a diverse range of programs and activities.
The City Spaces team is looking for highly skilled and motivated leader to manage the Community venues team. A fixed term (up to end of January 2028) Area Manager position is available.
The Area Manager Community Venues will be responsible for managing and leading a team to provide access to over 40 community hire spaces across community venues, community centres and libraries, setting the strategic direction for this team and leading on the implementation of a new online booking portal.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Highly developed problem solving and project delivery skills, including the ability to manage multiple, high priority and often competing tasks which are required in a short timeframe. Excellent time management is essential
- Exceptional leadership skills, resilience, the ability work with complex and competing work priorities at high volumes.
- Experience in leading and developing diverse teams through a complex change process.
- Experience in delivering challenging projects in a time constrained and politically sensitive environment.
- Experience of establishing or maintaining robust systems to capture and report service related data
- Experience of working on the delivery and implementation of online booking software or a similar project.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
