About the Role
Join Australia’s most unique avian deterrence team at the iconic Sydney Opera House. As a Seagull Patrol Dog Handler, you will work alongside our trained working dogs along the Opera House forecourt and dining precincts to humanely deter seagulls, protect diners, and provide a welcoming presence for visitors from around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol the dining areas and promenades at the Sydney Opera House with our working dogs to maintain a seagull-free environment.
- Safely and professionally handle, care for, and monitor your canine partner throughout each shift.
- Engage warmly and professionally with venue staff, diners, and members of the public.
- Ensure all animal welfare standards and venue safety guidelines are strictly maintained.
Requirements
- Strong Canine Understanding: Demonstrated experience handling, reading, and managing dogs in high-distraction, public environments.
- Vehicle & Licence: A valid Australian driver’s licence and your own reliable vehicle (essential for transport to and from shifts).
- Weekend Availability: Must be available to work consistent weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday), as these are our peak operational days.
- Public Interaction Skills: Confident, polite, and comfortable interacting with the general public in a high-profile location.
- Fitness: Comfortable on your feet and walking outdoors for extended shift periods in various weather conditions.

Pay: $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 30.0 per week
