Council is seeking applications from motivated, suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill this important role within the Open Space & Recreation Department.
The primary purpose of the position is to lead a small team of staff to carry out work to ensure Council’s parks, gardens, sporting fields, trees and reserves are maintained to a high standard of appearance.
Duties: Specific duties are detailed in the Operations section of the position description (attached), including but not limited to:
Lead a small team of staff and set an example in achieving Council’s required work standards and performance in:
- Work Health and Safety;
- Parks and gardens establishment and maintenance;
- Sports and recreation grounds establishment and maintenance;
- Turf maintenance;
- Tree pruning and removal;
- Irrigation Systems;
- General amenity horticulture.
The applicant Excellent interpersonal skills with the general public and fellow employees are essential, as well as excellent problem solving and teamwork skills. The applicant must hold a current Class C driver licence.
Qualifications:
This position is Full Time– 38 hours per week with a fortnightly Rostered Day Off.
Salary: Grade 7 in Council’s salary system ($1,250 to $1,393 per week) depending upon qualifications and experience, plus 12% Superannuation.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo and successfully pass a Functional Assessment which includes an alcohol and other drug screening and a hearing test.
