The 2027 Unaccredited Registrar would provide the day to day clinical management of patients under the care and direction of the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and ensure a high quality of patient care by adequately supervising junior medical staff.
You will be required to:

Provide adequate on-call services to cover the needs of hospital inpatients and units, as well as facilitating access to St Vincent’s from external referral sources

Perform other duties including administrative, teaching and research for the Unit under the direction of the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Classifications for this position will range from HM25 – HM30 ($129,048.40 - $177,622.12) pro rata for part-time.
What you will bring

Demonstrated experience applying medical knowledge towards sound clinical diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients

Demonstrated effective communication with patients, relatives, staff and colleagues

Classification of PGY4 or greater

Full working rights in Australia

Hold current AHPRA registration

MBBS or equivalent
-
Hold a current, or willing to undergo a satisfactory National Police Check

About the Cardiothoracic Unit
The Cardiothoracic Unit provides specialty surgical care for emergency and elective patients under both cardiac and thoracic surgery. The ward cares for a diverse range of patients with complex requirements. Ward rounds ensure patients are monitored on a twice daily basis. The successful applicant will follow patients through the duration of their course of care, including inpatient and outpatient care, assisting with and performing surgery in the operating suite and, post- operatively in ICU and daily ward rounds.
