About the Role
Brighton Coach Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated, reliable, and hands-on Junior Depot Supervisor to assist with the day-to-day management of our depot operations.
This role is ideal for someone with a current MR or HR Driver Licence, strong computer skills, and practical mechanical aptitude. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and professional operation of our depot, fleet, and drivers.
The position combines operational supervision, administration, fleet coordination, compliance management, and driving duties when required. Key ResponsibilitiesDepot Operations
- Assist with the daily coordination of depot activities and vehicle movements.
- Ensure vehicles are fuelled, cleaned, and prepared for service.
- Conduct regular depot inspections and maintain depot cleanliness, security, and presentation.
- Monitor vehicle availability and operational readiness.
- Assist with after-hours and weekend operational requirements when required.
- Ensure all company equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and professional condition.
Driver Management & Compliance
- Assist with driver sign-on and sign-off procedures.
- Ensure drivers complete all required compliance documentation, including Driver App inspections.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, NHVR requirements, fatigue management obligations, and safety procedures.
- Support driver onboarding and training activities.
- Provide operational support to drivers throughout their shifts.
- Assist with incident reporting and investigations.
- Ensure company standards relating to uniforms, vehicle presentation, and customer service are maintained.
Fleet & Maintenance Support
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections and identify defects or maintenance concerns.
- Monitor and check fluid levels including engine oil, coolant, diesel, and AdBlue.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of minor vehicle issues.
- Replace light bulbs, check fuses, batteries, and perform other simple maintenance tasks where appropriate.
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, registrations, and inspections.
- Liaise with external workshops, suppliers, and maintenance providers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, defect, and service records.
- Escalate major mechanical issues to management and repair providers promptly.
Note: A trade qualification is not required; however, applicants must possess sound mechanical aptitude and be comfortable identifying common vehicle issues and defects.
Administration & Systems
- Use company software systems to manage operational and vehicle records.
- Maintain accurate spreadsheets, reports, and depot documentation.
- Assist with scheduling, fleet tracking, and operational reporting.
- Communicate professionally with drivers, suppliers, customers, and internal staff.
- Support management with administrative and operational tasks.
- Assist with maintaining compliance and accreditation records.
Driving Duties
- Operate company vehicles when required.
- Move vehicles between depots, workshops, and operational locations.
- Provide emergency driver relief when necessary.
- Assist with charter, school, rail replacement, tour, and special event operations.
- Conduct vehicle pick-ups and deliveries as required.
Essential Requirements
- Current MR or HR Driver Licence.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound mechanical aptitude and ability to identify basic vehicle defects.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional presentation and attitude.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Full working rights in Australia.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, fleet management, or bus and coach operations.
- Knowledge of NHVR fatigue management and transport compliance requirements.
- Experience using transport scheduling or fleet management software.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Forklift Licence (advantageous but not essential).
