RSI Logistics, a subsidiary of TrinityRail, is seeking a Senior Transloading Operator for our Rochester, NY rail transload terminal.
A Transloading Operator is responsible for transferring bulk materials—such as liquids, gases, grains, or other commodities—from one mode of transportation to another. This role is common in industries like oil and gas, agriculture, rail and trucking logistics, and shipping terminals.
What you’ll do:
Independently operate transloading equipment (multiple types of equipment and manage all commodities).
Monitor and control the flow of materials during transloading to ensure safety and efficiency.
Inspect equipment and connections for leaks, wear, or damage.
Troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
Capable of performing Railcar Inspections.
Ability/willingness to cross train in other forms of transloading.
Follow safety protocols and environmental regulations during all operations.
Maintain accurate records of materials handled, quantities, and transfer times.
Effectively communicate with drivers, and other team members to coordinate logistics.
Pre and post inspection of equipment and necessary documentation.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of transloading equipment and work areas.
Assist with basic loading/unloading tasks under supervision, initially assisting, but in time conducting loads on their own
Learn about safety protocols and equipment operation.
Perform manual labor such as connecting hoses, cleaning, and staging materials.
Other duties as assigned
Ability to work Monday – Friday 6 am – 4:30 pm. Some overtime and weekends may be required.
What you’ll need:
5 years of experience in transloading or industrial operations. Proficient in all forms of transloading.
Advanced equipment operation and troubleshooting
Experience with forklifts, pumps, hoses, valves, and other industrial equipment
Strong understanding of safety procedures, especially in hazardous material handling
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (snow, rain, cold, and heat at rail yards, ports or industrial facilities) and perform physical labor
Good communication and teamwork skills
Valid Drivers License Required
Time management
Ability to read gauges, follow SOPs, and maintain logs
Basic troubleshooting of equipment
Basic computer or tablet skills for logging data and reports
Train new employees
Effectively communicate with clients, and management.
Forklift certification
HAZMAT training
OSHA safety training
May involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Starting pay for this position: $25.00/hour
