Before you apply, we'd genuinely encourage you to spend ten minutes on our website, navigate to our brands website australianroofers com and have a look around. It's the fastest way to understand what we're building and the kind of writing we care about, and it'll make your application far stronger. If, after looking, you submit your application through the contact form on our website rather than (or as well as) through this job board, it will be highly regarded — it tells us you've engaged with the project and can find your way around. It's not essential, and you won't be penalised for applying the normal way, but the people who take that extra step tend to be exactly the people we're looking for.
About us
AustralianRoofers is a verified directory of roofing companies across Australia. We're not a lead-farm or a thin scraper site — we research each firm properly, cross-check licences against state registers, pull in real customer reviews, and write genuinely useful editorial content for homeowners making expensive, stressful decisions about their roofs. Our guides, firm profiles, and podcast exist to help an ordinary homeowner work out who to trust and what's fair to pay. Quality and accuracy are the whole point.
The role
We're looking for a Content Writer and Researcher to help us grow and deepen that editorial layer. You'll research roofing topics from the ground up — materials, costs, council permits, insurance claims, storm damage, the lot — and turn that research into clear, practical, no-nonsense content that a homeowner can actually use. You'll also help us profile roofing companies: reading their websites, synthesising their reviews, and writing fair, accurate summaries of what each firm is known for.
This is a writing job for someone who likes getting the facts right.
What you'll be doing
- Researching roofing and home-maintenance topics and writing in-depth guide articles
- Writing and editing company profiles based on public information, reviews, and firm websites
- Synthesising messy source material (reviews, web pages, data) into clean, structured, trustworthy copy
- Keeping a consistent editorial voice: educational, plain-spoken, and free of fluff or marketing spin
- Fact-checking everything — we never fabricate awards, credentials, prices, or quotes
- Spotting good story angles and topics that genuinely help homeowners
Who we're looking for
- A strong, clear writer in Australian English — you can explain a complicated thing simply
- A careful, sceptical researcher who checks sources and doesn't guess
- Someone comfortable with structure and detail (you won't be bored by getting a table of costs exactly right)
- Self-directed and reliable — you can take a brief and run with it
- Honest about what you know and don't know; no padding, no invented facts
Nice to have (not required)
- Experience writing for the web, SEO, or directory/review sites
- Any familiarity with construction, trades, property, home renovation, or insurance
- An eye for what makes content rank and what makes it trustworthy
What we offer
- Flexible, remote work — work when and where suits you
- Clear briefs and genuine autonomy over how you research and write
- Work that's actually useful, on a project that values quality over volume
- Room to grow with the site as it expands across more cities and topics
How to apply
Send us a short note about yourself and a couple of writing samples (links or attachments — anything that shows you can research and write clearly). As mentioned above, applying through the contact form on our website is the way to stand out: search australianroofers com, take a look at what we do, and send it through from there. Applying through this job board is completely fine too — we read every application.
We're more interested in how you think and write than in a polished CV, so don't over-formalise it. Tell us what you'd be good at and show us something you've made.
