Sonographer Position
The St. Aurelia Private Hospital is recruiting an experienced and empathetic Sonographer for our imaging department. The role requires carrying out diagnostic sonography, producing high-quality sonographic images, and working in conjunction with physicians and other health professionals.
What would be your role?
As a Sonographer at St. Aurelia, you'll perform a diverse range of ultrasound examinations while delivering the high-quality, compassionate care our patients expect.
Working alongside experienced Sonographers, Radiologists, and healthcare professionals, you'll have the opportunity to further develop your clinical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertake high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations based upon clinical need.
- Take a proper history on each patient prior to undertaking an examination.
- Clearly explain the procedure to the patient and respond to questions that arise.
- Treat all patients with dignity, respect and confidentiality.
- Generate technically accurate diagnostic images to be interpreted by qualified physicians.
- Identify any sonographic findings and act accordingly.
- Accurately record patient histories and examinations undertaken.
- Utilize the ultrasound equipment safely and effectively according to workplace policy.
- Comply with guidelines regarding infection control, workplace health and safety and radiation/medical imaging safety (where relevant).
- Interact effectively with radiologists, referring clinicians, nurses and other healthcare practitioners.
- Consistently develop professional knowledge and practice via continued professional development.
- Promote positive professional interactions within the workplace environment.
Important Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- The eligibility criteria for this position will consist of candidates holding:
- An accredited degree or post-graduate degree in Medical Sonography/Medical Imaging majoring in sonography.
- Professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), if necessary for this role.
- Accreditation with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) where mandatory. Current professional indemnity insurance.
- Current first aid/CPR certificates.
- Experience in diagnostic ultrasound would be advantageous.
- The applicant must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
