Primary objective
The Building and Operations Manager (South) coordinates facility management, building maintenance, contractor services, security
systems, procurement and business support activities to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of the Alice Springs Local
Court precinct and associated court facilities.
Context statement
The Building and Operations Manager (South) exercises initiative and judgement in resolving operational issues, coordinating
contractors and supporting business operations, and participates in after-hours responses for building and security incidents.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high‑level operational, administrative and business support, to the Senior Registrars and Principal Registrar, Director
when required including managing day‑to‑day tasks, travel arrangements, payments, floats and corporate credit card processes
in line with legislative and departmental requirements.
2. Coordinate building maintenance, facility improvements, contractor works and security services across court precincts,
including monitoring works, conducting inspections, responding to operational issues and ensuring timely escalation.
3. Administer building access, security systems and operational processes to support safe, compliant and efficient court
operations, including oversight of ID cards, staff access, after‑hours responses and adherence to established protocols.
4. Undertake procurement, contract administration and financial activities in accordance with NT Government policies,
procedures and legislative requirements, including managing requests, supporting procurement workflows and coordinating
contracted service delivery.
5. Oversee the distribution, maintenance and security of operational assets such as ICT equipment, vehicles, uniforms and office
supplies; manage transcript/audio requests and provide technological and business support services to ensure continuity of
court operations.
6. Assist with workplace health and safety coordination, contribute to a safe and inclusive environment, and provide operational
support to court staff including system and building access.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High-level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with a broad
range of stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated experience in facility management, building maintenance coordination, contractor management and operational
service delivery.
3. Demonstrated experience in procurement, financial administration and contract administration processes.
4. Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate projects and meet competing
deadlines.
5. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
6. Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and problem-solving skills in a complex operational environment.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of Northern Territory Government procurement and contract management frameworks.
2. Experience in security systems administration, facilities coordination or contractor management.
