Salary: $78,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience
Moustache Espresso & Wine Bar is looking for an experienced full-time Chef to join our kitchen team in Mermaid Beach.
Moustache is a busy espresso and wine bar focused on simple, high-quality food, seasonal produce, pasta, seafood, small plates, and a European-inspired wine bar menu. We are looking for someone who can bring strong kitchen skills, consistency, organisation, and leadership to the role.
Key duties include:
Preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard
Managing daily prep and service
Maintaining food quality, consistency, and presentation
Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials
Managing stock rotation, ordering, and wastage control
Following food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance procedures
Supporting and training junior kitchen staff
Working closely with management to improve kitchen systems and service flow
Required skills and experience:
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen role
Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
Experience in a busy café, restaurant, wine bar, or similar hospitality venue
Ability to work under pressure and maintain consistency during busy service periods
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
Relevant cookery qualifications are preferred but not essential where strong experience can be demonstrated
