About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an organised and customer-focused Administration Officer to join our Theatre Bookings team in a maximum term, part-time position (16 hours per week) for 12 months. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth coordination of surgical services, supporting patients, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure theatre bookings are managed accurately and efficiently. Working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you'll play an important role in maintaining service continuity while helping deliver exceptional patient care.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a valued member of the Theatre Bookings team, you'll provide high-quality administrative support that helps ensure patients progress through their surgical journey seamlessly. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate and process elective theatre bookings in line with clinical and operational requirements.
- Liaise with surgeons, specialist practices, nursing staff and other internal stakeholders to facilitate booking requests.
- Maintain accurate patient and booking information across hospital systems.
- Monitor theatre schedules and assist with changes, cancellations and rescheduling as required.
- Respond to telephone and email enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure administrative processes comply with hospital policies, procedures and privacy requirements.
- Support the wider Theatre Bookings team to maintain efficient workflows and continuity of service.
About you
You're a proactive administrator who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys working collaboratively to deliver excellent service and support positive patient outcomes. You will bring:
- Previous administration experience, ideally within a healthcare or hospital environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- High level of attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Confidence using multiple computer systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with professionalism.
- A positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
