JOB DESCRIPTION – NURSE PRACTITIONER
Position: Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Registration: Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner
Experience: Experienced Nurse Practitioner preferred
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our growing medical centre team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred healthcare across a broad range of acute, chronic and preventative health conditions.
The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, reception and practice management to deliver safe, efficient and comprehensive healthcare to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, consultations and clinical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic health conditions within scope of practice.
- Develop, implement and review individualised treatment and care plans.
- Order and interpret appropriate pathology, diagnostic imaging and other investigations.
- Prescribe medicines and provide appropriate medication management within relevant legislation and scope of practice.
- Provide preventative healthcare, health education and lifestyle advice.
- Manage chronic disease and complex health conditions.
- Provide appropriate referrals to GPs, specialists, allied health and other healthcare providers.
- Perform appropriate clinical procedures within competence and scope of practice.
- Provide wound care, minor illness management and other relevant primary healthcare services.
- Undertake health assessments and preventative health screening where appropriately qualified.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up, monitoring and continuity of patient care.
- Recognise and appropriately manage deteriorating or emergency patients.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborative care planning.
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, AHPRA, NMBA, clinical governance and relevant Australian healthcare requirements.
- Maintain professional knowledge through continuing professional development.

The exact clinical scope will be determined by the practitioner's qualifications, endorsement, experience, clinical competence and applicable Australian legislation and professional standards.
Essential Requirements
- Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Relevant postgraduate Nurse Practitioner qualification.
- Appropriate Nurse Practitioner endorsement and authority to practise.
- Current professional indemnity insurance.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Demonstrated clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader healthcare team.
- Commitment to patient safety, privacy and high-quality clinical care.
- Current Working With Children Check and/or other checks where applicable to the role.
Desirable
- Previous experience in Australian general practice or primary healthcare.
- Experience with chronic disease management.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations.
- Familiarity with Medicare and Australian primary healthcare systems.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems.
- Strong interest in preventative healthcare and health promotion.

Remuneration
Salary / Contractor Rate: Negotiable based on qualifications, experience, availability and scope of practice.
