247 Auto Batteries & Roadside Assistance is looking for the right person to join our growing roadside assistance team.
This is initially a casual position with genuine potential to move into full-time employment for the right applicant.
We are a small, family-run business that has been built from the ground up. We take a huge amount of pride in our work, our vehicles, our customer service and the relationships we have built with our insurance and roadside assistance providers.
We're not just looking for someone to fill a seat in a ute. We're looking for someone who wants to become part of the team, grow with the business and take pride in representing 247 Auto Batteries.
THE ROLE
This is a 24-hour, 7-day roadside assistance operation with a roster in place to manage working hours and after-hours coverage.
Applicants must be willing and able to work after hours, nights and weekends as rostered. If you cannot commit to after-hours roadside work, this position will not be the right fit.
Your roadside duties will include:
- Battery testing and replacement
- Battery jump-starts
- Truck and 24V jump-starts
- Truck battery testing and replacement
- Flat tyre and spare wheel changes
- Basic puncture repairs
- Vehicle lockouts
- Basic roadside mechanical repairs and fault finding
- General breakdown assistance
- Assisting customers on behalf of insurance and roadside assistance providers
When roadside work is quiet, you may be required to assist at our Werribee depot/workshop with mechanical work, battery and parts stock management, cleaning, vehicle preparation and other general workshop duties.
WORK VEHICLE
A fully equipped company ute will be provided and can be taken home, however it is strictly for work use.
Presentation of the vehicle is extremely important to us.
Our roadside vehicles are one of the first things a stranded customer sees when we arrive. A dirty or poorly maintained vehicle doesn't represent our business.
Clean ute. Clean equipment. Clean presentation.
You will be responsible for maintaining the presentation of your vehicle and ensuring it is ready for work.
Stock management is also taken seriously. Our roadside vehicles carry a large amount of battery and roadside stock, so daily stock counts, accurate stock management and accountability are required.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You don't necessarily need to know everything from day one.
Previous experience in roadside assistance, batteries, automotive, mechanical or auto electrical work is highly regarded, however we are willing to provide training to someone who has the right attitude and basic skills.
You must be mechanically minded, comfortable around vehicles and willing to learn.

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HUGE TO US
Customer service is second to none at 247 Auto Batteries.
You are the face of our business when you arrive roadside.
You'll be dealing directly with the general public as well as clients through insurance companies, fleets and roadside assistance providers.
People may be stranded, stressed, running late or frustrated when you arrive. We expect our technicians to remain professional, respectful and helpful regardless of the situation.
The quality of our customer service and the relationships we maintain with our providers are a major reason we've been able to grow our business.
ROADSIDE WORK ISN'T ALWAYS EASY
This job can be intense and stressful at times.
One job might have you working on a quiet residential street, while the next could have you working beside a freeway or busy road with live traffic passing nearby.
Situational awareness and safety are extremely important.
There will also be quieter days. Roadside assistance can change quickly, so we're looking for someone who understands the nature of the industry and is happy to help around the depot when required.
