Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Fermer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and caring for agricultural land, ensuring optimal growth conditions for crops and livestock. Duties
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across fields and greenhouses.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of equipment using hand tools, power tools, and specialised machinery.
- Assist with animal care, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health.
- Conduct general horticultural tasks such as planting, pruning, fertilising, and pest control.
- Carry out heavy lifting of materials, equipment, or produce as required.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with irrigation or other farm machinery and carry out basic repairs.
- Use basic maths skills to measure quantities of fertilisers or chemicals accurately.
- Monitor crop growth and health, adjusting care routines accordingly to optimise yield.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas to ensure safety standards are met.
Experience
- Prior experience in horticulture, animal care, or agricultural maintenance is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
- Practical knowledge of irrigation systems and mechanical repairs is desirable.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance procedures is beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during daily tasks.
- Basic understanding of animal husbandry practices is preferred.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and task management.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while adhering to health and safety regulations.
