At Origin, being useful is more than a tagline - it’s how we approach work every day. As a collective, we’re a team that thrives on finding better ways, working together, and owning our impact. From powering homes to delivering award-winning internet and helping to lead Australia’s energy transition. If you’re driven by purpose and excited to be part of something bigger, we’d love to have you on the journey.
We're looking for an experienced Manager, Injury Management to lead our enterprise-wide injury management function and drive meaningful recovery and return-to-work outcomes for employees across the business.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll influence strategy, lead a team of specialists and drive initiatives that improve employee wellbeing, organisational capability and business performance.
You'll join a flexible and supportive workplace that values continuous improvement, professional development and creating positive outcomes for its people.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Group Manager, HSSE SME’s & Workplace Wellbeing, you'll lead the delivery and continuous improvement of Origin's injury management and rehabilitation programs.
Working closely with leaders, insurers, brokers, rehabilitation providers and healthcare professionals, you'll help employees navigate challenging periods and return to work safely and sustainably. You'll bring a commercial lens to the role, using both data, insights and industry best practice to drive down both the direct costs of claims (premiums, payments) and the indirect costs to the business (lost productivity, operational disruption), while ensuring people get the right support to recover well.
What you'll be doing
- Lead Origin's injury management and return-to-work function
- Coach and develop a high-performing team of injury management professionals
- Partner with leaders and external providers to deliver positive recovery outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement in claims handling processes to reduce cycle times, direct premium costs and indirect operational impacts
- Provide governance and oversight across workers' compensation and related injury management programs, with regular commercial reporting on cost and performance trends to senior leadership
What you'll bring
- Extensive, senior-level experience leading enterprise-scale injury management, workers' compensation or return-to-work functions, ideally within a large, complex organisation
- Demonstrated ability to talk fluently about the commercial drivers of injury management - premium costs, claims reserves, and the indirect costs of lost time, productivity and operational disruption - and to use that insight to influence outcomes
- A track record of driving measurable improvements in claims performance and reducing direct and indirect injury-related costs
- Proven people leadership experience and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation legislation and contemporary injury management practices
- Relevant qualifications in Injury Management, Rehabilitation, Allied Health, Occupational Health, Nursing, Psychology, Human Resources or a related discipline
If you're passionate about helping people recover, thrive and return to meaningful work while leading a function that makes a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.
