PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The central objective of this role to is to bring extensive operational experience and leadership into operational planning to support the real time
control room in maintaining power system security and reliability under all operating conditions, while meeting internal and external stakeholder
requirements and expectations.
The role seeks to provide technical and operational advice to inform and influence ongoing development and reform activities to relevant
government agencies, other Power and Water business units, consultants and proponents. The role is responsible for engineering duties for the
approval of near-term planning assessments, approval of operational risk planning and assessments, and operational plans and reports in line with
the System Control objectives for the secure, reliable, safe and cost-effective operation of Northern Territory regulated power systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The “WHAT” to be delivered
Provide expert power system engineering advice to the Outage Planning and Reporting Team to facilitate and guide the actions required to
successfully meet operational planning requirements in line with the technical requirements of the Northern Territory power systems.
Ensure all planning, reporting and risk assessment deliverables are achieved on time to a high quality with a focus on providing technical engineering
supervision relevant to the Northern Territory power systems.
Assist the Operations Planning Manager in the development of the Operations Planning Team, including the development of team strategy,
identification of development opportunities, provisioning of engineering mentorship to enhance System Control’s engineering capability, and
undertaking of recruitment and procurement activities in line with Power and Water’s requirements.
Manage a team of engineers to deliver team outcomes in line with business unit strategic directives.
Engage with external industry stakeholders appropriately to maintain effective relationships whilst managing Power and Water’s interests in reform
activities.
