We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Supported Independent Living (SIL) Support Workers who are specifically available to work Night Sleepover Shifts supporting NDIS participants living in shared or individual accommodation.
This role is ideal for support workers who are confident working independently overnight, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, and responding appropriately if participants require assistance during the night.
Key ResponsibilitiesOvernight Support
- Provide support to participants if assistance is required during the night.
- Respond promptly and professionally to participant needs, incidents, or emergencies.
- Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive overnight environment.
- Conduct overnight safety and wellbeing checks in accordance with participant support plans.
- Follow individual support plans, Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), and risk management strategies.
- Monitor participants' health, wellbeing, and behaviour, reporting any concerns promptly.
Participant Support
- Deliver person-centred support in line with participants' NDIS plans and goals.
- Promote participant dignity, privacy, independence, and choice.
- Provide emotional reassurance and support where required.
- Assist with medication administration during the night where trained and authorised.
- Support participants in accordance with organisational policies and NDIS Practice Standards.
Documentation and Reporting
- Complete accurate progress notes and shift reports before the end of each shift.
- Maintain medication records and other required documentation.
- Complete incident reports when required.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding participant wellbeing and any overnight events.
Compliance
- Adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards.
- Maintain participant confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, infection prevention and control practices, and safe work procedures.
- Attend mandatory training, supervision, and team meetings as required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or an equivalent qualification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (where required).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current Australian Driver Licence and reliable vehicle (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and remain alert during overnight shifts.
- Understanding of person-centred support and NDIS principles.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in Supported Independent Living (SIL).
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disability, autism, psychosocial disability, or complex support needs.
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).
- Medication administration training.
- Manual handling and infection control training.
