About the role -
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking an experienced Principle Technical Officer - Mechanical/Structures to join the CH-47F Chinook sustainment team at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera.
This is a key opportunity to support the most modern and capable configuration of the CH-47F Chinook helicopter, contributing to continued airworthiness, operational availability, and mission readiness. You will provide technical leadership across mechanical and structures systems, supporting maintenance, repairs, preventative actions, and sustainment outcomes for a critical Defence platform.

Responsibilities -
As a Principle Technical Officer - Mechanical/Structures, you will:
- Provide technical and task supervision within single or cross-trade teams.
- Support maintenance, repair, and preventative actions for CH-47F mechanical, fluid, and pneumatic systems.
- Act as a conduit between engineering, maintenance, and supply chain teams.
- Resolve design and operational issues with engineers and maintenance personnel.
- Apply mechanical systems knowledge to research, develop, test, and evaluate sustainment programs, modifications, repairs, and technical data.
- Assist engineering and ground support teams with fault finding, troubleshooting, and solution development.
- Develop in-service correspondence to support safe operation and maintenance.
- Maintain and release mechanical systems drawings, designs, documentation, and data to required standards.
We are seeking candidates with:
- 8+ years' technical experience in mechanical maintenance and/or engineering teams at a supervisory level.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, fluid, and pneumatic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks and support problem resolution.
- Experience working collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to produce and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and correspondence to required standards.
- Ability to meet Defence security and ITAR requirements.
- Australian Citizenship is required.
Highly regarded experience includes:
- Previous aircraft technician experience in Defence service or Defence industry.
- Experience with rotary-wing or combat aircraft systems.
- Airline or aircraft sustainment experience.
- Completion of DASR 21, Part M, Type Cert courses.
Qualifications -
- Relevant technical qualification or equivalent industry experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required Defence clearance.
- Required AASB Engineering Authority: Logistics Engineer.
Please note: this role is primarily onsite at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera due to the nature of the work and operational requirements. Flexible arrangements may be available subject to business needs.
